GivingTuesday

Have you heard of Giving Tuesday? It's global generosity movement in which on one day, December 1st, we pledge to give: whether its money, time or just spreading the message of your favorite causes. Consider making ECHO the cause you give your voice to on that day: Our need is most certainly financial and IMMEDIATE, we want to continue to provide the support, structure and skills that will ensure our participants continued emotional and physical well-being. Disabilities don’t take a day off and we don't either. Learn more here: https://www.givingtuesday.org

Thank You!

In case you missed our post yesterday, here's a behind the scenes video of the thank you message we recorded for The Loudoun Community Cabinet and @Hearts of Empowerment. We are so grateful to have friends like these in our community.

We are by no means out of this crisis, so if you're able to donate, we will continue to make every penny contributed work for our participants.

We gathered together this morning to thank two very special groups who are helping us meet the challenges brought on by the current global pandemic and who are helping us keep our facilities at optimal working conditions during this difficult time. The Loudoun Community Cabinet awarded ECHO $100,000 to support our organization’s operating expenses while we continue our mission of empowering individuals with disabilities through skills building, job placement, day support, and transportation. Hearts of Empowerment has generously donated resources and supplies to help us assure the health and safety of our most vulnerable participants. We could not do what we do without the help of our friends in the community and for this we very grateful. We are in this for the long haul, and your continued support means everything to us and the participants we serve.

We are by no means out of this crisis, so if you're able to donate, we will continue to make every penny contributed work for our participants.

Covid19 Survey For Adults With IDD

For those interested, a postdoctoral researcher at Ohio State University is conducting an online survey for adults (18 and up) with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The survey was created in response to rapidly changing circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Input from the survey will help practitioners, employers and others understand how to better serve individuals with IDD during this time. The survey should be taken a total of 3 times (once now and at 2 other times). Click here to take the survey. https://bit.ly/2ACI6Qk

Hello! This is a survey for adults (ages 18 and over) with an intellectual or developmental disability. We want to know how you have been doing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The next ECHO Core Value is Integrity. Integrity incorporates concepts of honesty, strong moral principle, a wholeness, a unity, being undivided. ECHO staff always keeps its eye on the individuals being served, there is a commitment to making the individual’s experience as whole and complete as possible…when the temptation arises, as it probably does from time to time, to put themselves and their needs first – that’s when integrity kicks in. That’s one reason why participants like to come to ECHO, because they sense that they are valued by the people who care for them and who have their best interests at heart. #Integrity #Values

Why is Enthusiasm one of ECHO’s seven Core Values? Who can be enthusiastic all the time? Is it realistic, or even desirable to maintain a value which, at face appearance, seems to be unattainable? Enthusiasm means to live with the spirit of all that is good and decent; even when things aren’t going so great or are disappointing. The spirit of goodness and decency is what the ECHO staff brings to its work day…every day. During this pandemic the spirit of ECHO and its commitment to its participants has been unwavering. #Enthusiasm

Loudoun Human Service Nonprofits Receive $100K in Grants from Community Emergency Relief Fund - Community Foundation

Thank you to the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties for the generous $7,500 grant! This helps us adjust to serving participants during the pandemic, and especially to a loss of revenue during this time. Thank you.

Today the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties announces $100,000 in grants from its Community Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) to 16 nonprofit human service organizations. In March 2020, the Community Foundation established the CERF to strategically disburse funding to addres...

To our donors, you are a hero. You are turning a situation which seemed catastrophic at first, into one which is far more hopeful and optimistic. Much has been done…and much remains to be done.Starting on March 12th our participant count slipped from 100% to 1% inside of one week. When things get back to normal, as they eventually will in some fashion, our billing to government agencies will lag behind. While revenues lag behind ECHO still makes salaries, utilities, insurance, etc. We still have a long way to go until this summer when, hopefully once again, our costs will get back into sync with our collections. ECHO is committed to surviving this crisis and to becoming stronger than ever. We could not be as optimistic and firm in our commitments if we didn’t have friends and benefactors like you. We will work hard to continue to earn your trust and support; and you will be hearing more frequently from us in the months and years ahead. For now, our message is simple: Thank You. #community

Thank you to the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties for their generous grant to help adults with disabilities. This comes at a particularly difficult time for ECHO as we strive to get through the short-term financial challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. We simply couldn't do it without the support of our community! #doinggood

We will start addressing these seven CORE values this month, but for now we just want to introduce them to you as they are at the center of our ability to persevere in the face of this temporary crisis we face. #values

ECHO IS NOT THERE YET…THE NEXT 3 MONTHS ARE CRITICAL. During the lockdown ECHO’s headcount was zero. Zero headcount meant zero reimbursements. We need to bridge this gap by raising $165,000 to assure ECHO will be able to provide care at the levels prior to the start of the pandemic. During this time of trial and sacrifice ECHO relies on your generosity and understanding to assist it in its mission. To make your important contribution visit: www.echoworks.org/donors. We thank you for your gift and want you to know that it is appreciated. #community
